Don't take your loved ones for granted

My husband received a call from his friend, Joe just before we went to the market this morning. As I was walking into the market, I saw him going towards the florist/gift shop. So I waited outside the market to see what he's up to. Oh, he returned shortly with a dozen of red roses in his hand! But can't be for me! He would only buy me nine roses! And only on our anniversary!

"Buying for Joe?". He smiled and nodded - the bouquet was for Joe's wife, from her dear husband who was working on board a cruise ship, travelling around Europe and only returned home once in every six months.

What a big surprise! I can't imagine how happy she would be upon receiving the roses. I was greatly touched by Joe's gesture of love.

Very often we just take our loved ones for granted, especially when their love is unconditional and is there always. We assume this love will never cease. It never occur to us that someday our love ones may have to say "good-bye" and "this day" may come sooner than expected that we are unable to thank them in time.

Nobody knows "when" and "how" this is going to happen. We can't envision also how we'll face the shock when "that day" comes. But surely it would be too late then to realize, if we have not spent as much time as we could with them or to have talked to them as often as we should. We would probably live to regret it - if we fail to act in time to show them how much we love them.

Don't take our loved ones for granted. Show them our concern, appreciation and love in every little way we can before it's too late. This will not only brighten up their days but ours as well.
